Cathay-Keris Films owns and manages the Cathay Classic Film Library, which has more than 270 Mandarin, Cantonese and Malay titles. These titles have been digitally-restored to European broadcast standards and are poised to be a source of content in the emerging Internet and Web TV environment.
The history of the classic film library can be traced back to the 1950s when Cathay's two studios, Cathay-Keris and MP&GI, made a whole range of Malay and Chinese movies to sustain the interest of the audience. These movies were of different genres ranging from romances, comedies, musicals, suspense dramas, biographies, children's movies and even Chinese 'Westerns'. |
